Monday Miniatures - More Salamander Firedrakes (Deathwing Knights)
I did not promise my audience that this week was going to be a little different, and it isn't.
As I was coming to the end of my first unit of Firedrakes, my mind got to churning about what I was going to paint next - nominally, I would "weave in" a character as a change of pace and something different.
As I considered what I needed to complete for my Librarius Conclave force (which has narrowed significantly), I had arrived at the first box of Company Heroes.
Not knowing what was inside, I had thought that it might be beneficial to try and paint them all at once, which means that I didn't have any unassembled characters to assemble and paint - leaving the natural choice another unit of Firedrakes.
In hindsight, I think I probably should've weaved in the captain, because my captain and ancient subassemblies look like this:
There was a mid-project interruption to drop everything and try and make a magnetised display board, which of course ended in abject failure and took about a week off of the clock - and used up the last of my hermit crab sand reserves, meaning I had a three-day long crisis about my bases looking different.
(Of course, no-one else would be able to spot the difference, but, you know, I would.)
But in the end I powered through, sticking to my process, and the first company added five new brothers:
Again I used ImpatientTabletop decals (he has a new decal sheet with curved transfers, just in time for someone else's Deathwing Kni- er, Firedrakes) and spent much less time mulling over how they didn't fit neatly.
Overall as we get closer to game time I am very excited for the future of the men in green - with any luck, I might even be able to play at HeroCon in November.
Just need to pace myself.
And, yes, I think with infinite time, I will rebase all the miniatures in my collection. But I will do my best not to lose sleep about the differences in the meantime.
Catch you next time,
Vulkan
